Land Management & Conservation

Enviro-dynamics delivers environmental programs on a landscape scale. This includes engaging communities in local environmental projects, working with farmers on agri-best-practice programs, catchment management planning for triple bottom line outcomes (social, environmental and economic) and biodiversity conservation research and management.

The Derwent Catchment Project (DCP) is a significant NRM program delivered by Enviro-dynamics. DCP is a not-for-profit Landcare group governed by a board of local producers and residents. Key services delivered through the Project are community facilitation, strategic planning, project development and design, as well as the coordination of the program works.

Agricultural Extension

Enviro-dynamics delivers agricultural extension on best-practice management in dryland grazing. We deliver projects on farm planning and sustainability with a focus on NRM. We have developed a series of demonstration site trials as part of our Derwent Catchment Project work and are interested in opportunities to support farmers to explore ideas which can support farm profitability and land condition.

River Restoration

Rivers are the arteries of our landscape. They’re vital for landscape function and support healthy communities. Unfortunately, many Tasmanian rivers are in poor condition, infested with weeds with poor and declining water quality. As part of Derwent Catchment Project delivery we have run several large projects in river restoration which have included planning through to on-ground weed control and replanting of sites. Working with the community to improve river health is what we really love to do!

Catchment Management Planning

The process of Catchment Management Planning involves identifying key natural, agricultural, social and economic values of a region, threats to those catchment values, and management strategies to address impacts from those threats. The planning process is important in taking a big-picture look at how landscapes are used and how we can manage them responsibility for the community. Community engagement in the process and working with key stakeholders is an important part of creating a plan that is adopted and actively implemented. We are currently working on a Healthy Rivers Plan for the Derwent Catchment, building on the Lower Derwent Sub-catchment Plan we produced in 2015. We also recently updated the North West Bay River Catchment Management Plan.

Community Consultation

Our core skill of translating science into practice is highlighted by our community engagement capacity. We use a participatory approach to engagement, working with community to facilitate mutually supported outcomes. Our projects range from local scale to regional strategic plans.
