Ella Weston

NRM Advisor / Ecologist

Ella brings a breadth of skills in fire ecology, natural resource management and community engagement. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tasmania, majoring in ecology and geography, and has built her practice around landscape-scale conservation and caring for Country. Her work sits at the intersection of science, culture and community, grounded in two-way learning and strong relationships, with a particular focus on fire, plants and the social dimensions of land management.

Ella’s professional experience spans ecological fieldwork, project coordination and NRM facilitation across a range of landscapes throughout lutruwita/Tasmania. She has led fire ecology research and vegetation monitoring, coordinated field programs and supported restoration and revegetation projects. Alongside her on-ground work, she is experienced in grant writing, project design, and reporting.

Ella current focus is community-facing NRM work, facilitating workshops, stewardship programs and collaborative projects that connect people with place and nature. She is also project-managing large-scale weed control works across the Derwent catchment area.

A skilled communicator and relationship-builder, she is passionate about inclusive, relational approaches to conservation and advocates for pathways that support diverse people to enter, shape and lead land management. Through this blend of technical knowledge, facilitation, two-way science and values-driven practice, she aims to strengthen both landscape resilience and build community capacity.
