Tobias Burrows

Junior Environmental Consultant and Communications Officer

Toby has a robust academic foundation and practical experience in environmental science and conservation. Holding a degree in Natural Environment and Conservation from the University of Tasmania, he majored in geography and ecology, and is currently pursuing Honours research with a primary focus on Tasmanian alpine biogeography. This has involved fieldwork in Tasmanian alpine plant communities and descriptive work on regional vegetation communities, particularly fire-mediated communities of southwest Tasmania.

His professional journey has so far been focused on ecological fieldwork. Surveys in a range of environments have allowed him to develop a varied knowledge base. Other hands-on experience encompasses weed management, river restoration, and revegetation/restoration projects. He is certified in chainsaw operation and utilises drone technology for aerial surveys, monitoring, and evaluation. In his role at the Derwent Catchment Project (DCP), Toby combines his environmental knowledge with creative communication to effectively convey the organisation's work and impact. His background includes extensive experience with the Adobe design suite, graphic design, and the production of photographic and videographic material.
