Stephanie Horwood
Environmental Advisor / GIS & Ecologist
Steph is an ecologist and data specialist with honors degrees in Mathematical Sciences and Biodiversity & Conservation. Working at the intersection of ecology, GIS and spatial analysis, her work blends field-based conservation with data-driven insight; while she loves plants, her focus increasingly includes fauna.
Originally from Adelaide, she moved to Tasmania for its accessible natural landscapes. Steph’s background in developing custom databases underpins strong data management and analysis skills. She focuses on fauna habitat modelling and vegetation assessments, with experience on mainland koala projects and locally, in dry eucalypt forest communities around Hobart, and is building capability in weed management and ecological monitoring.
Beyond technical work, she has delivered projects through her own database business, contributed communications for a not-for-profit over two years, and supports engagement initiatives. She is developing grant-writing and budget skills and brings a multidisciplinary, people-centered approach to driving the individual and societal change conservation requires.
