Tobias Burrows

Environmental Advisor / Ecologist

With a strong academic foundation and practical application in both communications and environmental science and conservation, Toby brings a breadth of skills to the team. Holding a degree in Natural Environment and Conservation from the University of Tasmania, Toby majored in geography and ecology and is currently pursuing Honors research with a primary focus on Tasmanian alpine biogeography. This has involved fieldwork in Tasmanian alpine plant communities and descriptive work on regional vegetation communities, particularly fire-mediated communities of southwest Tasmania.

His professional journey has so far focused on ecological fieldwork. Surveys in a range of environments have allowed Toby to develop a varied knowledge base, including hands-on experience in weed management, river restoration, and revegetation/restoration projects. He is certified in chainsaw operation and utilises drone technology for aerial surveys, monitoring, and evaluation. In his role at the Derwent Catchment Project (DCP), Toby combines his environmental knowledge with creative communication to effectively convey the organisation's work and impact. His background includes extensive experience with Adobe design suite, graphic design, and the production of photographic and videographic material.
